Festive season commences: 54k vehicles delivered on Dusshera across Gujarat

Ahmedabad: Rebutting fears of a muted festive season, Gujarat witnessed a record 54,000 vehicle deliveries across the state. According to data from the Federation of Automobile Dealers Association (FADA), almost 44,000 two-wheelers and 10,000 four-wheelers were delivered on Dusshera. Along with that, the Navratri season also witnessed 24,000 fresh bookings of vehicles, delighting the industry.

Though the Navatri-Diwali festive season has always remained special, the lowering of the GST rates, aggressive dealer discounts and new model launches helped boost the numbers significantly.

Ahmedabad led the tally, with almost 6,000 two-wheelers and 2400 cars delivered on Dusshera, while Surat, Rajkot and Vadodara also saw significant deliveries.

“Navratri 2025 set new benchmarks for Indian Auto Retail! From cars to bikes, 3W to trucks to tractors, festive cheer unleashed by GST 2.0 benefits drove record-breaking deliveries.

With historic growth across PVs, 2Ws, CVs and tractors and rising EV adoption, the momentum is all set to accelerate into Diwali and the marriage season,” Saharsh Damani, CEO of FADA, tweeted.

Along with this, a strong demand from rural areas also drove up the numbers, both for two- and four-wheelers. These sales have helped auto dealers address the temporary pause in demand immediately after the government announced the reduction in GST rates.

“The losses incurred by dealers due to a degrowth in Sep sales will be fully recovered in Oct, thanks to robust demand throughout the 10 days of the festivals of Navratri and Dussehra. Rural demand was one of the major factors for the rise in demand. Even a number of luxury cars were in good demand.

We also saw spot bookings for vehicles; however, deliveries could not be made due to the mandatory rule for selling vehicles with a number plate. The number of spot bookings on Dussehra day also increased by 10% compared to last year, for which vehicles will be delivered a fortnight later,”  Pranav Shah, chairman, FADA Gujarat, added.
